Flight check-in details
Heathrow offers the following guidelines for when you should check-in for domestic, European and non-European international flights:
Long-haul and El Al:
Three hours before scheduled departure
European flights:
Two hours before scheduled departure
UK and Ireland flights:
90 minutes before scheduled departure
Online and mobile check-in
Many airlines allow you to check-in online from two to 24 hours before your departure. This allows you to choose your seat and swerve queues for the desks when you get to the terminal. Simply arrive and drop-off your bags. Check with your carrier to see if it offers these services.
Facilities for disabled passengers

Push chairs and child seats
Heathrow does not hire out buggies or child seats, but passengers flying from Terminal 3 can take their own prams and child seats through security and check them in at the gate.
Family assistance lanes
These lanes give extra help to families travelling with young kids in buggies when passing through security. Just look out for the 'Family Assistance' lane signs.

Area for kids
Kids are well catered for in Terminal 3, with 'The Family Lounge' – an area just for parents and children. It includes play areas for ages 0-2 and 3-9, while there's also a games room for children aged 10-15, along with comfortable seating and drinks machine for parents. Nursing mothers benefit from a discreet area to feed babies. The lounge is located after security (near the Ted Baker store – just follow signs for Lounge A) and opens from 06:00 -21:00. Entry is free, but kids must be accompanied by an adult at all times.
Wi-Fi access
If you need to be connected, Heathrow Airport offers WiFi throughout the terminals. You can find all the essential information here.
Charging mobile devices
If your phone or tablet is running low, Heathrow Airport offers free Power Pole charging stations in all terminals. These can be found before and after security and are compatible with UK and European plugs as well as USB cables.
Baby changing facilities

Luggage Lockers
If you’ve got a long wait for your flight, but don’t want to be burdened with bags, simply head to one of the luggage lockers. These cost around £5.00 per item for two hours or £10.00 per item for 24 hours. They’re available 05:30-23:00 and Terminal 3 passengers can find them located in the Arrivals level (ground floor).
Pharmacies
If you have a last-minute medical issue, Boots has three pharmacies in Heathrow Terminal 3 located both before and after security. The stores open 05:30-21:30. Please note, the after-security branch of Boots does not have a pharmacy – visit the before security-located branch (here) for medicines and prescriptions.
Top Tip
Remember to buy baby milk from the airside store to avoid it being confiscated at security. Boots also operates a Reserve and Collect service to help save time at the airport.
Showers
Showers are available for customers who book into the No1 Traveller Lounge.
Chapel
Heathrow Terminal 3 offers two prayer rooms. Before security, worshippers can find the prayer room here, while passengers wishing to use the facility located after security should head here.
Viewing Areas
Airports are exciting places and nowhere in the UK has more to see than Heathrow. Passengers can view the runway from several restaurants and cafes in Terminal 3 or from the No1 Traveller Lounge.
